Crispy Oven Baked Chicken Thighs

Crispy Oven Baked Chicken Thighs have the most tender and juicy meat, with perfect crispy skin. This is such a family favorite, we can’t get enough of it!

• 6 bone-in skin on chicken thighs
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 2 teaspoon ground paprika
• 1 teaspoon dried basil
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano
• ½ teaspoon garlic powder
• ½ teaspoon onion powder
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ¼ teaspoon black pepper


1⃣ 00:00:11 – Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 pan or 3 quart baking dish.

2⃣ 00:00:41 – Trim the chicken thighs of any excess fat or skin. Place chicken thighs directly into the prepared dish, skin side up.

3⃣ 00:01:08 – Drizzle chicken skin with olive oil and rub to coat.

4⃣ 00:00:18 – In a small bowl, stir together paprika, basil, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle evenly on top of chicken thighs.

5⃣ 00:01:44 – Roast chicken in the preheated 450 degree oven for 35-40 minutes, or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

6⃣ 00:02:15 – Place under the broiler setting for 1 to 2 minutes to finish and add extra crispiness to the skin.

  • I was like “let’s find a new recipe.” Then this just reinforced that I can keep doing what I do. I put the chicken on the pan, sprayed it with Pam, then added my favorite chicken seasoning (chef merito). It’s basically the same! 😁. Easy.

  • I seriously don't understand why people put the seasoning on then the olive oil and then try to mix it in their pan, why don't you just put it all in a bowl mix it up first then put it in your pan that you're baking in 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦

  • This will taste bland as all hell! Once you bite the skin of the top, the rest of the chicken has absolutely no taste. It might look good off the oven but oh Lord this will have ZERO taste when you bite the half of the chicken that was on the pan.
    It amazes me all these YouTube chefs that only seasoned on what you can see from the oven door. I guess their taste buds are set to bland mode.

  • Why do Americans use garlic powder and everything else powdered ? I prefer using fresh unless I can’t find any supplies. I’m sure that would make it hard to do a rub but that’s the way it is

  • I made this and it was so good. I just added a little barbecue after letting it broil and grape seed oil. I used sweet paprika and more garlic powder bc no onion powder. Then I added some chili flakes. I have to make this again

  • How do you avoid it being a little hard? Sometimes my chicken is soft sometimes harder. Perhaps cook it much slower on lower heat? Is marinating it better? I learned how to velvet chicken bits for stir fries and it’s amazing. Can this technique maybe help a whole chicken thigh? Maybe store them in cold water with salt? There must be a way. Unless the supermarket gets different quality chicken or ages, maybe it’s not me?

  • i was going to dislike, but I changed my mind, AS THIS IS ACTUALLY A GREAT RECIPE. You did well. I recommend seasoning the ENTIRE chicken so there is FLAVOR when you bite in…. You can even use a fork to poke holes in the the bottom and then massage them to ensue flavor in the inside.
